Changes for Scottish charity reporting

28 October 2014, Charities

OSCR has proposed changes for Scottish charity reporting.  The proposals are being reviewed by the Law Society of Scotland.  The group dealing with this is the charity law committee (convenor Stephen Phillips).   OSCR have produced a document about the Targeted Regulation of Scottish Charities here.

Governance health check

Now is a good time to have a governance health check.  It is likely that more details of Scottish charities will be published online including their annual accounts and names of Trustees.  Although the personal information relating to Trustees won’t be posted on the OSCR website, charities will have to this information to hand and should have an up to date register including the following information for each Trustee:

  • Date of Birth
  • Home Address
  • Date Appointed
  • Date Resigned
  • Details of any office held (e.g. Treasurer)
