Members of the Musicians Union are invited to a free seminar – Tax and Accounting for Musicians in Glasgow on 10th December 2019 and Belfast on 12th December 2019. You can learn how to take some of the stress out of filing your tax return. If you are still using paper records you can find out why you need to start thinking about switching to accounting software like Xero.
The Tax and accounting for musicians seminar will cover the items below in straightforward language. The plan is for you to learn how to do your own accounts, get it right and save money on accountancy fees!

Email the Musicians’ Union on glasgow@theMU.org – don’t forget to state which event you want to attend (Glasgow or Belfast).
The feedback was positive from the two sessions, with the audience giving a score of 4.9 from the Glasgow session
and 5 for the Belfast session
The Musicians’ Union produces an annual handbook for members. Before you pay a penny to an accountant you should open up your copy of the handbook and turn to the Tax Savings Guide. This section has lots of useful information about organising your accounts and the expenses you may be able to claim. The MU also runs seminars from time to time in Scotland (and elsewhere) to provide additional support to members.
